REPRESENTATIONS OF THE EMPIRE AND THE ARCHITECTURAL IMAGE OF THE HOMELAND: PACIFIC RUSSIA AND RUSSIAN TURKESTAN

The focus of the article is on the representations of the Russian Empire in the New Lands (the Far East and Turkestan) which became part of the Republic of Ingushetia at the same time in the late 19th - early 20th century, and the mirror problem of constructing a convincing image of the East for the residents of the metropolis. The emergence of Orientalism, "Russian style" and "frontier architecture" is considered. The conclusion is made that the cultural policy of Russian colonialism was variable
