Section 27(1)(b) of the Constitution provides that everyone has the right to have access to sufficient food. Section 27(2) of the Constitution provides that the state must take reasonable legislative and other measures, within its available resources, to achieve the progressive realisation of these rights. This imposes an obligation on the government to take legislative and other measures to ensure that strategies are in place to achieve the realisation of the right to have access to food.
