The study aims to problematize the guidelines for working with song, as a multisemiotic genre, in the Portuguese language parameterizing documents for the sixth and seventh grade in Elementary school in a national context. In order to do that, it is based on the Marxist conception of integral formation of the human being, which guides the official documents, associated with studies on song by Tatit (1997; 2003) and Baltar et al. (2019). Grounded on theses ideas, we seek to answer the following questions: i) How are the proposals of teaching and learning song related in the National Curriculum Parameters (1998) and in the National Common Curriculum Base (2018); and ii) How are the proposals of work with the song materialized in textbooks app...
