Increased urbanization and industrialisation have made concrete the most widely used material. Due to natural resources scarcity, not only raw materials as constituents can fulfil the requirement. The prime need is to reduce the overall carbon footprint and solid waste management by using recycled concrete, agricultural and industrial waste material. This paper reviews some researches of obtaining lightweight concrete using waste and recycled materials such as agricultural waste, plastic waste, expanded clay aggregates and scrap rubber tyres.
