An Analysis On Students’ Errors Pronunciation at English Language Education Of Fkip UIR Pekanbaru

Pronunciation in English is important for learners, language learners should pay more attention the way they articulate the foreign words, so they ensure that they can communicate what they have in mind. They have to understand when they are uttering the words. Pronunciation is using to support the successfulness message from the speaker to listener to avoid misunderstanding. Everybody wants to be able in pronouncing the words like native speaker, but English pronunciation is to be a problem for learners, bad pronunciation may make people confuse. The objective of this research is to know the students’ errors in pronunciation of English words on vowel and consonants sounds at English students of FKIP UIR Pekanbaru at second year students. Method of this study is descriptive qualitative research. The researcher assessed the Students’ errors pronunciation at English Language Education of FKIP UIR Pekanbaru. The Respondent of this research is the fourth year students of FKIP UIR Pekanbaru. In this study, the research instrument is oral test, there are 40 words that be tested, and the data was collected by handphone recorder. In analyzed the data, the researcher helped by English lecturers at English department of FKIP UIR Pekanbaru by used talking-talking software and phonetic transcription. The result of this study described that there are some errors that made by students in pronouncing English word. such as there are 25 students’ errors pronounced short vowel /e/. There are 15 students’ errors pronouncing short vowel /Ʊ/. 21 Students’ errors pronouncing the consonant / ð/. 18 students’ errors pronouncing consonant /ɵ/, and 17 students’ errors pronouncing consonant /ʒ/
