This didactic experience was carried out in 2019, with a class of the 3rd year of high school at Colégio Estadual Professor José de Souza Marques, located in the neighborhood of Brás de Pina, in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil. It was a question of investigating, through interviews with residents of the neighborhoods surrounding the school, the existence of representative spaces of Afro-Brazilian cultural memory and resistance, in line with Law 10.639 which makes the teaching of Afro-Brazilian history and culture mandatory in Basic Education.
