PETANI MELAWAN KERATON YOGYAKARTA: MENGUNGKAP KONTRIBUSI PEREMPUAN PETANI KULON PROGO DI DALAM KONFLIK

The conflict going on iron sand beach, Kulon Progo, has been understood as a battle between farmers against iron ore mines. But basically, ownership of authority becomes the main source of the conflict. Thus, farmers are in the arena against the authority of the Yogyakarta Palace with its iron ore mining policy. Meanwhile, in ecofeminism and cultural feminism thoughts, the position of female farmer is seen as the recipient of natural gender burdens and cleaners of natural chaos. This general sense makes women lose their subjectivity, essentialist; and at the same time, placed face to face with men, Javanese culture, as well as the Yogyakarta Palace. It adversely affects female farmer in conflict, especially with their involvement in social movements: their contributions are invisible, their roles are not taken into account, and are considered to affirm the burden of gender. This research tried to uncover the contribution of female farmers in the conflict and its relationship with the creators of the conflict, namely the Yogyakarta Palace. Then to acknowledge women's involvement in conflict, the study used conflict theory and authority; while to know its contribution in the conflict, used the theory of female identity, ecofeminism and politics of location. This was a type of qualitative research with feminist ethnography as a method of uncovered women's contributions directly. The steps were, used snowball sampling techniques, in-depth and unstructured interviewed, coded the data, and analyzed it inductively. The results of this study shows that women farmers dive into Javanese culture to be able to contribute to the conflict. Islam, Javanese, women, and farmers are a collection of identities that make women farmers aware of the threat of mining. And, through slametan rituals, women are able to intervene in Javanese socio-cultural interpretations and make it a bridge of women's resistance to Yogyakarta palace and iron ore mines
