In the United States historically, Asian Americans have not had the same opportunities in the entertainment industry as their white counterparts. The recent onset of more Asian representation in the media has been followed by poor representation, with actors embodying stereotypical roles. The misrepresentation of Asian Americans in entertainment reveals the true conceptions of the public and creates a ripple effect in the greater community. Because the implications of media misrepresentation go beyond film and entertainment, change is crucial. By conducting studies that determine the effectiveness of social justice art, we can apply the results in advocating for proper representation of Asian Americans in the media
