Toxoplasma gondii possesses an armada of secreted virulent factors that enable parasite invasion and survival into the host cell. These factors are contained in specific secretory organelles, the rhoptries (ROP), micronemes (MIC) and dense granules (DG) that release their content upon host adhesion and active invasion. DG proteins (GRA) are also secreted in a so called « constitutive manner » during parasite replication and play a crucial role in modulating host responses, ensuring parasite survival and dissemination.
