In this paper phytoremediation is introduced as one of the existing methods for the clean up of polluted soils and groundwaters by using wild and crop plants for absorption and/or degradation of different pollutants. It is an effective and low cost method which is not environmentally destructive. Authors described several activities in the phytoremediation process especially regarding the importance of the proper choice of the plant species for the accumulation of a certain heavy metal or radionucleid.
