The main objective of this study is to try and give the basic toneme patterns of the Venda noun and to formulate rules governing the changes that result when the noun is preceded by formatives and when the noun is followed by suffixes. This study aims at: (a) the clearing of misunderstandings arising from the wrong use of the toneme in Venda (b) providing help to those who find it necessary to use Venda as the medium of communication in the execution of their duties (c) providing a references for the correct Venda tonemesAfrican LanguagesM.A. (Bantu Languages
