Si This study examines the process of social adaptation of Javanese transmigrants in Biak regency, Papua, the type of transmigration carried out, supporting and inhibiting factors for Javanese Transmigrants in carrying out social adaptation in Biak regency, Papua. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The technique for determining the subject is purposive, while the data collection technique is by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity technique uses triangulation. The results of this study suggest that the social adaptation of Java Transmigrant in Biak regency through four processes: 1) Administrative management process, 2) Establishment process relational and socialization, 3) Process of blending with social groups, 4) Process of environmental adjustment and social life. There are two types of transmigration carried out by Javanese Transmigrants in Biak regency 1) Independent Transmigration, 2) Family Transmigration. A supporting factor for the social adaptation of Java Transmigrant in Biak regency: a) motivation in economic improvement, b) having relatives/partners, c) interest in transmigration areas, d) friendly natives. While the inhibitory factors resulting from this study were: a) cultural and linguistic differences, b) had no relatives or colleagues in the transmigration area
