PENGARUH PENDIDIKAN KESEHATAN TERHADAP TINGKAT KESADARAN SISWA-SISWI PADA PERTOLONGAN PERTAMA LUKA BAKAR DI SMA 1 MUHAMMADIYAH MALANG

Background Burn is the burning sensation caused by injury inflicted by heat. Burn is characterized by damage to the skin which when severe, causes the affected skin cells to die. The Indonesia Ministry of Health (2019) records that incidents of burns from the year 2011-2012 which requires hospitalization numbers around 303 cases with a number of death of 34%. This number correlates with the lack of awareness on burn first aid at the time of the incident. Therefore, an effort to increase first aid awareness of burns is by giving health education on burn first aid awareness on students of Muhammadiyah 1 senior high school Malang. Method This research uses the quast eksperimental design with one group pre-post test design method with intervention in the form of video showing and PowerPoint presentation, as well as demonstration. Sample in this research includes students of year 10 and 11 of Muhammadiyah 1 senior high school Malang which was taken in March. Variables observed were the change in awareness of burn first aid on students. Data was analyzed using the Wilcoxon test with a significant value of ∝ = 0,05. Result The result of this research showed an increase in awareness, with an average of pre-test score of 66,346 with a standard deviation of 13,508, and a post-test score average of 73,706 with a standard deviation of 13,545. The significant value (p-value) acquired from statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon method was (0,000), meaning that H1 was approved, which concludes that health education effects student awareness on burn first aid in Muhammadiyah 1 senior high school Malang. Discussion Knowledge on proper awareness does not guarantee that it will be used during day to day life. Other than teaching technique, we must also discuss the motivation of each student, and hope that they will keep being motivated to apply and spread their knowledge to their local community
