Análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo de la Serie Bibliotecología y Gestión de Información

After seventeen years of the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana’s Serie Bibliotecología y Gestión de Información, its trajectory and qualitative and quantitative characteristics are analyzed, through the systematization of the variables: production, format and extension, language, nationality, profession and gender of the authors and their relationship with the publishing house, themes, and references used in the 116 monographs published from 2005 to the present. The Series was created in Santiago (Chile), with the purpose of disseminating the academic productivity, research and experiences of professionals in the area of Library and Information Science and the sector related to the world of books and reading. Its positioning in databases such as e-LIS, Latindex and Dialnet is observed, and that, in its issues, research related to physical collections, information sources and public libraries prevails; the authors are familiar with the publishing institution and are mostly Chilean librarians; it has published multidisciplinary studies and has had the collaboration of foreign authors. Although its operation has been uninterrupted and its titles include research relevant to the area, it is still not very known or consulted, even in the country’s own professional environment
