With age, physiological performance decreases and the probability of dying increases in a process called "senescence". This process is found in most species and shows very diverse patterns; between species, between populations but also between sexes and individuals. Understanding the existence and maintenance of such a process is a great challenge in the field of Evolutionary Biology. To this end, the study of very different organisms and the factors that can influence senescence at the individual level seems indispensable.
