ABSTRACT : CRISPR-Cas9 is a novel gene editing tool that came from the immune system of bacteria against viruses, modified to become one of the most efficient technologies in molecular medicine. The main goal of this final degree project is to systematically review the state of-the-art about the CRISPR-Cas9-based gene-editing tools and their applications in cancer therapy and investigation. A total of 142 articles were used, with any type of design published from 2010 to 2021 with a 3.0 or higher Journal Impact Factor. In investigation, the CRISPR-Cas9-based technology can form knock-outs, knock-ins and chromosomal rearrangements mimicking carcinogenesis and, additionally, can be used to screen for these modifications with CRIS...
