Influence of the application time of two nitrogen sources on the tolerance of rice (Oryza sativa L.) and (Rottboellia cochinchinensis ) to fenoxapropethyl and haloxoxfop-methyl

En la Estación Experimental Fabio Baudrit M., situada en el Barrio San José, de la Provincia de Alajuela, entre febrero de 1987 y febrero de 1989 se realizó una investigación con el objetivo de evaluar la influencia de la época de aplicación de dos fuentes de nitrógeno, sobre la tolerancia del arroz (Oryza sativa L.) y de la caminadora (Rottboellia cochinchinensis) a los herbicidas haloxyfop-metil y fenoxaprop-etil. El fenoxaprop-etil a 100 g i.a./ha fue el tratamiento más selectivo, en tanto el haloxifop-metil causó mayores daños. La dosis de 200 g i.a./ha para ambos herbicidas fue la más perjudicial. La fertilización con nitrógeno disminuyó los síntomas de toxicidad, especialmente cuando se aplicó el Sulfato de Amonio cinco días antes que los herbicidas, o la Urea, el mismo día o cinco días después de la aplicación de los herbicidas. Los herbicidas haloxifop-metil y fenoxaprop-etil, a 100 g i.a./ha, controlaron el 100% de (R. cochinchinensis) La segunda fertilización nitrogenada no tuvo ningún efecto en la respuesta de esta maleza a los herbicidas.An assay was conducted at The Fabio Baudrit Experiment Station, between February, 1987 and February of 1989, to evaluate the influence of the application time of two nitrogen sources on the tolerance of rice and R. cochinchinensis to the herbicides haloxyfop-methyl and fenoxaprop-ethyl. The most selective treatment was fenoxaprop-ethyl at 100 g a.i./ha, while haloxyfop-methyl caused the largest damage. The most severe damage was caused by both herbicides at the rate of 200 g a.i./ha. The nitrogen fertilization lessened the toxicity symptoms, mainly when ammonium sulphate was applied five days ahead of the herbicides or urea applied the same day or five days after the herbicide application. The herbicides haloxyfop-methyl and fenoxaprop-ethyl, at the rate of 100 g a.i./ha controlled 100% of the R. cochinchinensis.
