A high performance liquid chromatographic method was set up for fast detecting formic acid, lactic acid, acetic acid, succinic acid and propionic acid. The mobile phase was acetonitrile and KH2 PO4 (0.02 mol/L, pH 2.8), flow rate and the ratio of organic solvent were controlled by a gradient elution programme with quaternary pump, detection wavelength was 215 nm, and column temperature was 30 degrees C. The method could fast and effectively separate and detect the organic acids in anaerobe medium. The analyzed time was 4 minutes. The RSD was 0.3% - 1.3%, recovery was 95.0% - 100.8%, all the correlation coefficients (r) were no less than 0.9998.
