MasterThis thesis tries to understand the reasons why states sign bilateral, or plurilateral, and environmentally binding or non-binding trade agreements. We rely on the network approach and build several networks of trade agreements, that we analyze with the Stochastic Actor Oriented Model (SAOM). The main results show that when countries have already signed several binding agreements, whether bilateral or plurilateral, they are more likely to sign this kind of agreements more in the future. This suggest that when countries have signed several binding agreements it is easier for them to comply with other binding agreements, since environmental regulatory efforts have already been made to meet the requirements of their previous agreements.C...
