Direct current, (DC), has been used to treat hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating of unknown cause, although it does have side effects. This experiment was conducted to see if alternating current, (AC), could be used as an effective and safe alternative. A single subject design of an A-B-A form was performed on a 23 year old female. Electrical resistance of the skin was used as the measure of moisture on the skin. Seven baseline readings were taken followed by 14 treatment sessions of AC to the right hand. The left hand acted as a control. Baselines immediately following treatment and eight weeks post treatment were also recorded.
