A treatment model for post-divorced families

A plethora of testimonials regarding the process of divorce and divorce mediation can be found in the literature. Discussions of problems experienced by children following a divorce and group interventions have been presented in several journals. However, the literary accounts of tested treatment approaches that meet the needs of family members following a divorce are sparse. This paper proposes a post-divorce treatment model which attempts to provide the parents emotional support, communication skills and education around how child process divorce. The clarification of new family roles and boundaries are important components of this treatment model. It is believed that the stated interventions will assist the parents and children in adjusting to the divorce. An empirical design is outlined to assist researchers and clinicians who wish to assess the effectiveness of the program
