Librarians have a point

Oregon librarians are concerned about the potential impact of Ballot Measure 9 on the freedom to read. If passed, Measure 9 would forbid public libraries as branches of government to promote, encourage or facilitate homosexuality. This vague language invites challenges of books by people known to be homosexual, even popular American poets like Walt Whitman. Though the intent of Measure 9 supporters is to protect impressionable youth, this initiative would lead to censorship of library collections
