Stress and Marital Satisfaction in the Military

A selective review of the relevant literature is summarized regarding stress and marital satisfaction within the military community. The purpose of the review was to investigate the occurrence and severity of stress related to the demands of the military profession, specifically frequent relocation, deployment, and separation from loved ones, and to investigate the reported level of marital satisfaction among military personnel. A correlation between the stress experienced by members of the military and reported levels of marital satisfaction was explored. The literature evidences varying levels of stress experienced by military personnel as related to the type of assignment or deployment, and offers an incomplete\u27 view of marital satisfaction. Implications for research are noted
