A review of existing scholarly literature on psychological assessment with Hmong individuals was conducted. Factors influencing cross-cultural assessment were examined. Obstacles with cross-cultural assessment were also considered, including such concepts as language and test content bias, lack of statistical norms for various cultures, differences in test-taking skills and comfort with measures, misinterpretation of test data, and difficulty debriefing and explaining results to clients from underrepresented cultures. Summaries and reviews were provided for published journal articles on the topics of laboratory, projective, and a variety of objective psychological assessments with Hmong populations.
