The Instructional Materials Review committee recommended Astoria elementary schools keep The Education of Little Tree on teachers\u27 and library shelves. If students desired to borrow the book from a teacher or the library, they would need to seek parental permission. The book was challenged by the parents of a fifth grade student because it presents a negative view of Christians. The school board was slated to discuss the recommendation at its November 8th meeting
