In the present study, probabilistic seismic hazard assessment was conducted for the Eastern Mediterranean region based on several new results: (1) a new comprehensive earthquake catalog, (2) seismic source models developed based on new geological, seismicity and geodetic data; and (3) new ground motion prediction equations (GMPEs). As the number of available regional ground motion records is not adequate to develop successful local GMPEs, the data in hand was employed for determining the most representative GMPEs that were developed for similar tectonic environments.
