International audienceThe author presents the Évin Act of January 10, 1991 as one of the most well-known health laws in France. To do so, he explains the genesis of this law by referring to the law of July 9, 1976 on the fight against smoking or to the DMOS of July 1987 on advertising and alcohol. Then, he highlights the report of a group of five hospital academics on smoking. According to the author, the Évin Act concerns the two main health determinants: tobacco and alcohol, and marks the awareness of public health.
