Neuronal connectivity forms the basis of neuronal functions and is a consequence of neuronal morphology. Neuronal development defects result in neurodevelopmental diseases such as schizophrenia or autism. In this context, the fundamental question of my thesis was to understand how neuronal morphology is acquired during development by the identification of molecular mechanism leading to the regulation of axonal morphology. Acquisition of specific pattern of axonal morphology is regulated by coordination of intracellular signaling pathway and extracellular cues such as neurotrophines or guidance molecules.
