Mesurer la malnutrition infantile au Niger. Entre révolution thérapeutique et transformations de la métrique des corps

International audienceQuantification of child undernutrition occurs through a continuum of interactions between indexes, child growth standards, threshold and measurement tools, that interacts one with another. In Niger, simultaneously with the Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) revolution promoted by the humanitarian medicine, these devices of the quantification of malnourished bodies were regularly renegotiated over the last ten years. This article describes how diagnostic devices’ mutation within the therapeutic revolution articulates one another, transforming bodies metric within transnational public health, redefining the outlines of undernutrition, the normal and the pathologic; illustrating dynamics of risk construction within transnational public health policies.La mesure de la malnutrition infantile s’opère à travers un continuum d’indices, de normes de croissance, de seuils et d’outils de mesure qui interagissent les uns avec les autres. Au cours des dix dernières années, au Niger, en lien avec une innovation thérapeutique majeure, chacun des éléments de cette métrique des corps dénutris a été renégocié par la médecine humanitaire. L’article analyse ces mutations et éclaire leurs influences sur la définition du normal et du pathologique. Sont ainsi illustrées les dynamiques de la construction du risque dans les politiques de la santé publique transnationale
