The main problem you may have when designing switches made of several elements connected in series is the bad distribution of voltages and currents through the components during the switching and static phases. This is mainly due to the components themselves, to their operating control and to the connections ( delays, differences in speeds, parasitic capacitances on each stage, distribution of the saturation currents through each serial connected component, leakage currents ... ) .
