The study aimed to examine the syntactic features of transitivity in Akan verbs of cutting, contact by impact, change of state and perception. The study adopted a descriptive and qualitative study. The method applied in the data analysis was distribution method. Data were collected from two major sources. The first one is the primary source. Due to my introspective knowledge as a native speaker of the Asante Twi, I constructed some of the examples myself as and when they occurred to me. The second is the secondary source. The analysis is pursued within the study of functional approach to grammar.
