Graduation date: 2000Phaeocryptopus gaeumannii is a pathogenic fungus on Douglas-fir needles which has become a\ud serious threat to timber production in the last decade along the Oregon coast This research was undertaken\ud to describe the general biology and pathology of F. gaeumannii on Douglas-fir needles and how\ud environmental variables affect fungal development. The biology of P. gaeumannii was described using\ud histopathology methods such as scanning electron microscopy, thin section light microscopy, and plastic\ud impressions of needle surfaces.
