The conditions of teaching and the requirements for its performance have changed in last years. This paper presents the voices of teachers from the paulistas municipal networks on the competence they consider necessary to teach mathematics in final years of primary education and about their working conditions. As theoretical reference used Fiorentini et al. (2002), Freitas et al. (2005), Imbernón (2006), Passos et al. (2006), Lourencetti (2006), Zagury (2006), Fiorentini (2008), Lopes (2001), among others.
