A interação estratégica China-Estados Unidos envolvendo Taiwan: elementos para uma análise atual

The article aims to indicate elements to support a present analysis of China-United States strategic interaction involving the Taiwan issue. Thus, the study analyses four cases that could be considered turning points in the interaction between the countries in order to draw long-term patterns which will help in the study of the current situation: the Korean War, the First and Second Strait Crises, the Sino-US rapprochement and the Third Strait Crisis. Afterwards, it summarizes the observed patterns and list the recent developments in the strategic layout between China and the United States. The conclusion points out the proliferation of elements that strengthen the logic of preemption in East Asia, especially regarding Taiwan, but also that there are alternative proposals, such as the Offshore Control.O artigo tem por finalidade apontar elementos para embasar uma análise atual da interação estratégica China-Estados Unidos envolvendo a questão de Taiwan. Para tanto, o estudo parte da análise de quatro casos que podem ser considerados pontos de inflexão na interação entre os países, a fim de traçar padrões de longo prazo que auxiliarão no estudo da situação atual: a Guerra da Coreia, as Primeiras Crises do Estreito, o Reatamento Sino-Estadunidense, e a Terceira Crise do Estreito. Em seguida, sintetizam-se os padrões observados e elencam-se os recentes desenvolvimentos no plano estratégico entre China e Estados Unidos. A conclusão aponta que proliferam elementos que fortalecem a lógica da preempção no Leste Asiático, especialmente no que concerne Taiwan, mas que gestam-se proposições alternativas, como a do Offshore Control
