Study developed with ten mother of newborns taken into the neonatology unit of a maternity school hospital in Fortaleza – CE. The goal was to favor mother’s interpersonal relations and to provide an welcoming environment where experiences could be shared. Data were collected in November/2001, based on Carl Rogers meeting groups. Speeches were categorized accoding to Bardin (1977), analysed in the light of the Human Nursing Theory by Paterson and Zderad (1976) and resulted in the issues: feelings and expectations of the mother concerning her baby in the hospital; the baby’s state of health; separation as a result of motherly discharge and motherly self-confidence.
