The objective of this research is to know the determining factors of the practice of contraceptive methods between college students of the health area. It was used a form with structured questions applied to (440) colleges students aged (18 to 24) of the Faculdade Santa Terezinha (CEST). The statistic analysis was accomplished through the program Epi-Info and by means of the qui-square test. Among the searched college students (66.7%) answered to have already started their sexual life. Most of the college students (41.9%) had started the sexual life at the age of (19 to 20) years; in the first sexual relation (65.2%) used some contraceptive method.
