The abbreviated mission of Father Couto (1859) in the plots of Enchanted Juazeiro

The article intends to analyse of the circulation and reading of "Abbreviated Mission" (Portugal, 1859) in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, and reflect on how this breviary interpretations is related to the "plots of the sacred" that surround this city’s history. We will take as main source, the narratives presented by the Public Pilgrims Penitents, members of a brotherhood , whose doctrinal foundation is anchored in both the Abbreviated Mission teachings as well as the lay Catholic experience in . We also intend in this article to highlight the "fragments of the past" that constitute an imbricated relation between this publication temporalities and the readers who interpreted them. From this comparison , it becomes possible to see how this book’s history, the readers of it, and the listening and reading dimensions can contribute to a historical interpretation that reveals the everyday plots and their involvement in the great power structures.O artigo tem a intenção de compartilhar uma análise sobre a circulação e as leituras da obra “Missão Abreviada” (Portugal, 1859) na cidade de Juazeiro do Norte, interior do Ceará, e refletir sobre como as interpretações feitas a partir desse breviário relacionam-se com as “tramas do sagrado” que envolvem a história desse município. Para tanto, tomamos como fonte principal as narrativas apresentadas por membros da irmandade de Penitentes Peregrinos Públicos cujo fundamento doutrinário ancora-se tanto nos ensinamentos contidos na Missão Abreviada quanto na experiência católica leiga em Juazeiro do Norte. Tencionou-se também nesse artigo evidenciar os “fragmentos de passado” que constituem uma imbricada relação entre as temporalidades de publicação da obra e os leitores que as interpretaram. A partir desse entrecruzamento de informações torna-se possível perceber como a dimensão da história do livro, dos leitores e das formas de ler e ouvir podem contribuir para uma interpretação histórica que revele as tramas cotidianas e seu envolvimento com as grandes estruturas de poder
