Introduction: Childhood obesity, an epidemic in many countries of the world, is a multifactorial condition that causes childhood morbidities that may persist into adulthood. This study aims to measure the prevalence of childhood obesity in 6 historical series, to evaluate the nutritional transition, and to examine the relationship of environmental, socioeconomic and nutritional factors with overweight and childhood obesity in children aged 0 to 6 years in the Brazilian semiarid.
