Love as resistance to servitude in Benedictus de Spinoza

In this work, we will analyze Spinoza's ideas about the passions that lead man to servitude and fundamentally put in relief the means of resistance to this external control, so that he can be truly free. Spinoza demonstrates throughout the Ethics that it is possible to break with the passivity that conditions human beings submitting them to the terrible threat of contingent exteriority. Benedictus Spinoza's anthropology is far from possessing any kind of spiritualistic bias, since it rejects any form of mysticism, nor is it intellectualist, since knowledge alone is unable to free ourselves from bondage. It is not dualistic because it does not presents man as a composition of body and mind, sustaining a radical monism. Nor is it entirely rational because it takes desire as the essence of human beings. We can say that Spinoza's philosophy contradicts many concepts present in Western tradition. When investigating the main ideas of this Dutch thinker we are obliged to get rid of several epistemological and ontological conceptions that guided modernity. We understand that in his philosophical system, joy - although being a passion - is an affection capable of raising potency and of overcoming sad passions. In this research we argue that love, because it represents joy, is capable of guiding man in this transition and especially that it is the greatest form of resistance to servitude. To resist is to add positive forces, to resist is to fight for the emancipation of the mind from the imaginative state in which it is trapped; to resist is being able to fight, searching our own nature and gradually passing from passions to action, attaining true freedom. In Spinoza's system love represents the way of accessing freedom. It is a liberating process that leads man to happiness and can only be experienced when we achieve to know God / Nature, our affections and oneself.Nesse trabalho, buscaremos analisar as ideias de Spinoza acerca das paixões que levam o homem à servidão e fundamentalmente apontar para os meios de resistência a esse controle externo, para que ele possa ser verdadeiramente livre. Spinoza demonstra ao longo da Ética que é possível romper com a passividade que condiciona o ser humano ao terrível espectro da submissão à exterioridade contingente. A antropologia de Benedictus de Spinoza está longe de possuir qualquer tipo de viés espiritualista, pois rechaça qualquer forma de misticismo, também não é intelectualista, pois só o conhecimento não é capaz de libertar o homem da servidão. Não é dualista porque apresenta o homem como corpo e mente em um monismo radical. Tampouco é totalmente racional porque toma o desejo como a essência do próprio ser. Observa-se que parece ser uma filosofia da negação de muitos conceitos presentes na tradição. São muitas as rupturas que este filósofo holandês do século XVII efetua e para investigar suas principais ideias é necessário desprender-se de várias concepções epistemológicas e ontológicas que norteavam a modernidade. Percebemos que este filósofo aponta a alegria - embora seja uma paixão – como o afeto capaz de elevar a potência e se sobrepor às paixões tristes. Defendemos nesta pesquisa que, por representar a alegria, o amor é capaz de guiar o homem nessa transição e principalmente que é a maior forma de resistência à servidão a que se pode dispor. Resistir é agregar forças positivas, resistir é lutar pela emancipação da mente do estado imaginativo ao qual ela está presa, resistir é cada ser buscar sempre seguir a sua própria natureza, para paulatinamente passar das paixões às ações. Nisto consiste a verdadeira liberdade no sistema spinozista e nele o amor representa a via de acesso. É um processo liberador que conduz o homem à felicidade e só pode ser vivenciado a partir de um grande esforço de compreensão de Deus/ Natureza, dos afetos e de si mesmo
