The study of the behavior of fluids (especially water) flowing through orifices has been very useful to describe function and to design important hydraulic structures, such as reservoirs and Water Treatment Plants (WTPs). The present work describes the methodology used to determine the experimental discharge coefficient (Dc) in orifices located in plates used to promote velocity gradient in a plate flocculator.
