The study deals with the social organization of rural settlements, within the framework of agrarian reform, making a relation with Field Education, as a new way of thinking about peasant education. The objective was to study the social organization of the Maceió settlement, related to the Education of the Field as an education project of the MST. The research was of the qualitative type, using the case study as strategy. The instruments of data collection were observation, semi-structured interviews and focus group. The research unit was the Maceió settlement, located in the municipality of Itapipoca, state of Ceará.
