William Morris y los origenes del socialismo ecologico

The article aims to further discuss the role played by William Morris in the design of a pioneer of the current ecological thinking and libertarian socialist utopia. We are particularly interested in highlighting the environmental perspective in the author’s creative effort, for which we will make a small cut in his utopian romance “News from nowhere”, originally published in the year 1890. The text to follow is a brief history about the concept of utopia, with a special section on the dualism between the approaches utopian socialists of the scientific and historical materialism. Then try to sketch the various profiles of the author, and finally discusses the anticipatory nature of the ecological perspective in the work of Morris and his influence as an inspirational source of ecological socialism of the XXI century.El artículo a seguir pretende reflexionar sobre el papel desempeñado por William Morris en la concepción pionera de una corriente ecológica dentro del pensamiento socialista utópico y libertario. Nos interesa especialmente destacar la perspectiva ambiental presente en el esfuerzo creativo del autor, para lo cual procederemos a hacer un pequeño recorte de su romance utópico Noticias de Ninguna Parte, publicado originalmente en el año de 1890. En el texto a seguir se realiza una breve historia acerca del concepto de utopía, con un apartado especial sobre el dualismo establecido entre los enfoques socialistas utópicos y la vertiente científica del materialismo histórico. En seguida intentaremos esbozar los diversos perfiles del autor y, por último, discurriremos sobre el carácter avant la lettre de la perspectiva ecológica presente en la obra de Morris y su influencia como fuente inspiradora del socialismo ecológico del siglo XXI
