Behaviour, information literacy and research on the brain: applications in learning

Revista Informação em Pauta, Fortaleza, v. 2, n. esp., p. 85-110, out. 2017.The present article results from an exploratory and selective review of the literature on the cognitive processes involved in learning. It argues about the importance of the research on cognitive neuroscience and cognitive psychology to support and develop teaching-learning strategies, and, therefore, to improve the information literacy. For this purpose, it presents a brief description of some processes involved in the acquisition of knowledge – awareness, attention and memory - and the principles related to brain research that can be applied in the information literacy process.O presente artigo resulta de uma revisão de literatura, de caráter exploratório e seletivo, sobre os processos cognitivos envolvidos na aprendizagem. Argumenta sobre a importância das pesquisas em neurociência cognitiva e psicologia cognitiva para embasar e desenvolver estratégias de ensino-aprendizagem, e por conseguinte, melhorar o letramento informacional. Para tanto, apresenta breve descrição de alguns processos envolvidos na aquisição do conhecimento – consciência, atenção e memória – e os princípios, derivados das pesquisas cerebrais, que podem ser aplicados no processo de letramento informacional
