Variation of rhotic in coda position in school compositions in Uberaba-MG

Revista Entrepalavras, Fortaleza, ano 7, v. 7, n. 4 esp., p. 165-181, jan./jun. 2017.This article aims mainly to analyze a variable phonetical and phonological process, which is the erasing or keeping of the /R/ phoneme. Therefore, the investigation is based on the influence of the speaking on writing of elementary school students from Uberaba/MG. In other words, we ascertain if the process described above is as present on writings as it is on speaking of these students, trying to evidence how orality can influence a written text. To do that, 70 writings from the students were analyzed, and two important factors were taken into consideration: (a) keeping or erasing of /R/ in verbs and (b) extension of the word: number of syllables. 420 words were found and the keeping of /R/ had a very lower frequency, with 29,05% of the total. On the other hand, the erasing of /R/ presented 70,95% of occurrence. Thus, we observed that the knowledge of linguistic variation is extremely important for the process of language teaching. Furthermore, the importance of articles and researches with writing texts as this one is evident, because similar works of this process were all based on spoken corpus, which makes this article innovative. So, we conclude that the influence of speaking on writing is apparent, once the analyzed process is so frequent on students speaking and they reflect that on their writings, because the knowledge of the relation between speaking and writing is not clear.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo principal analisar um fenômeno fonético-fonológico variável, sendo ele o apagamento ou manutenção do /R/. Procuramos investigar a influência da fala na escrita dos alunos do Ensino Fundamental II, da cidade de Uberaba/MG. Em outras palavras, verificaremos se o fenômeno, tão marcado na oralidade, será também marcado na escrita dos alunos, evidenciando, portanto, o funcionamento da modalidade oral no texto escrito. Para isso, foram analisadas 70 redações produzidas por alunos do 6º ano de duas diferentes escolas públicas de Uberaba-MG. De posse do material, os textos foram lidos e, posteriormente, selecionadas as ocorrências que serão ponto de partida para a análise linguística. Para a análise, observamos: (a) A manutenção ou apagamento do /R/ em verbos e (b) A dimensão das palavras: monossilábicos, dissilábicos, trissilábicos e polissilábicos. Foram encontrados 420 vocábulos verbais, entre os quais a manutenção do /R/ apresentou uma frequência bem menor, 122 ocorrências (29,05%), enquanto 298 (70,95%) sofreram apagamento do segmento consonântico em posição de coda silábica. O conhecimento sobre a variação linguística na fala é muito importante para o processo de letramento. Nesse sentido, justifica-se a importância do trabalho com corpus escrito, posto que os trabalhos anteriores que analisaram o presente fenômeno são apenas em corpus de língua falada, justificando a inovação da presente pesquisa. Com isso, conclui-se que a interferência da fala para a escrita fica clara nesse trabalho, uma vez que o fenômeno analisado é frequente na fala, e os alunos, desconhecendo a inter-relação entre a fala e a escrita, acabam transpondo para seus textos os hábitos comuns da fala
