Graduation date: 1980Aspects of bison ecology and behavior were studied in the Henry\ud Mountains, Utah during summer 1977 and summer 1978. Foraging\ud distributions of bison and of cattle were compared to elevation, slope,\ud horizontal distance from water, vertical distance from water, aspect,\ud and availability of preferred forage. The effect of bison-cattle\ud interactions on distribution of the 2 species was evaluated. Patterns\ud in geographical and altitudinal distribution of the bison herd during\ud summer were described. The sizes of bison cow groups were determined\ud and compared to habitat structure.
