Abstract

Turnera subulata Sm., popularly known as Chanana or flor-do-Guaruja , is a Brazilian medicinal plant belonging to the family Turneraceae. In Brazil this family is represented by two genera, Piriqueta and Turnera, being Turnera the most representative. The Genus Turnera is characterized by the presence of terpenoids, flavonoids, steroids, benzenoids, alkaloids and lipids.
