Ação efetiva de baixas energias em teoria de supercampos com altas derivadas

Higher derivative theories were introduced quite early in an attempt to regularize the ultraviolet divergencies of quantum field theories. Unfortunately, higher derivatives theories have an energy which is not bounded from below and seem to lead to ghosts, states with negative norm, that violate the unitarity. In spite of that, higher derivative theories have better renormalisation properties than the conventional theories and thus have been thoroughly studied. Recently, in the context of supersymmetric theories the interest in this subject has been stimulated by the studies about, for instance, the higher derivative regularization method, the higher derivative supergravity model, the classical aspects of the higher derivative chiral superfield models, and so on. This thesis examines low-energy effective actions of higher-derivative supersymmetric quantum field theories. In particular, we construct four higher derivative supersymmetric theories which are consistent with the symmetries of the theories without higher derivatives. The models studied here are the following: Generic higher-derivative supersymmetric threedimensional gauge theory; Generic higher-derivative three-dimensional scalar superfield theory; Generic higher-derivative N = 2;d = 3 gauge theory; Higher-derivative four-dimensional chiral superfield theory with a nonconventional kinetic term. For these models, we calculate the Kälerian contributions to the one-loop effective potential, and in order to obtain such contributions we use the standard Feynman supergraphs techniques or calculate the functional trace via direct expansion. In the present study, we show that the one-loop Kählerian effective potential for all of the four theories does not display any divergences.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESTeorias com altas derivadas foram introduzidas muito cedo numa tentativa de regularizar as divergências ultravioletas das teorias quânticas de campos. Infelizmente, teorias com altas derivadas têm uma energia que não é limitada por baixo e parecem levar aos fantasmas, estados com norma negativa, que violam a unitariedade. Apesar disso, teorias com altas derivadas têm melhores propriedades de renormalização do que as teorias convencionais e assim têm sido estudadas a fundo. Recentemente, no contexto de teorias supersimétricas, o interesse neste assunto tem sido estimulado por estudos sobre, por exemplo, o método de regularização de altas derivadas, o modelo de supergravidade de altas derivadas, os aspectos clássicos de modelos de supercampo quiral com altas derivadas, etc. Esta tese examina as ações efetivas de baixas energias em teorias quânticas de campos supersimétricas com altas derivadas. Em particular, construímos quatro teorias supersimétricas com altas derivadas que são consistentes com as simetrias das teorias sem altas derivadas. Os modelos estudados aqui são os seguintes: Teoria de calibre tridimensional supersimétrica com altas derivadas genérica; Teoria de supercampo escalar tridimensional com altas derivadas genérica; Teoria de calibre com N = 2 em d = 3 e altas derivadas genérica; Teoria de supercampo quiral quadridimensional de altas derivadas com um termo cinético não convencional. Para estes modelos, calculamos as contribuições Kälerianas para o potencial efetivo em um laço, e para obter tais contribuições utilizamos as técnicas de supergráficos de Feynman padrão ou calculamos o traço funcional via uma expansão direta. No presente estudo, mostramos que o potencial efetivo Kähleriano em um laço para todas as quatro teorias não exibe nenhuma divergência
