La historia material e inmaterial de la escuela: memoria, patrimonio y educación

The analysis of the material culture of educational institutions is gaining more and more importance in the historical research on education. Likewise, the creation of museums and societies interested in the preservation and study of the educational inheritance has experienced a remarkable growth in the last two decades. This text provides, first, a synthesis of the above mentioned growth. Then, the diversity of possible uses of the educational inheritance and some methodological issues arisen from the study of the above inheritance are dealt with. Finally, some remarks on the memory and the historical inheritance in the electronic culture are carried out.El análisis de la cultura material de las instituciones educativas constituye un campo historiográfico en auge. Asimismo, la creación de museos y sociedades interesadas por la conservación y el estudio del patrimonio educativo ha experimentado un crecimiento notable en las dos últimas décadas. En este texto se ofrece, primero, una síntesis de dicho auge. Después, se expone la variedad de usos posibles del patrimonio educativo y se tratan algunas cuestiones metodológicas que plantea su estudio. Por último, se efectúan algunas reflexiones sobre la memoria y el patrimonio histórico en la era de la cultura electrónica
