In recent years, there has been intense discussion about building the teachers’ professional identity and the components of the teaching work, as well as questions related to educators’ formation, both, initial and continued, placing teachers in the center of controversy about the current set of problems in Brazilian education. This article focuses the analysis of the challenges that teachers and the teaching work are called to face before the requirement of resignification of the contemporary school.
