In this paper, childhood is understood as a cultural, social, historical construction that is subject to changes. Contemporary cultural conditions, being marked by the media and consumption habits, have both produced childhoods that are different from the naïve, docile, adult-dependent modern childhood, and modified the ways children experience this period regarded as peculiar to them. Furthermore, the way we see and explain children depends on the theoretical lenses we use.
